You narrated your trip with some intricate details, we don't have to visit those places for a while, I guess! Instead of dump the scammers at the dirty washrooms, we could make them to clean washrooms for rest of their life. We should have more scammers than public washrooms in India. Ok, i am just being sarcastic. But access to washrooms is much better now , I travelled more than 3000 kilometers during my last India trip, almost all petrol bunks had clean washrooms. India is changing but kinda at snail pace, but we will get there! These are all downside of failed democracy and half closed market. "Free market capitalism" is the Only solution to put India on fast track. Otherwise it is like Sivaji says to Kamal in Devar Magan movie. My dad gave me the land, I sow the seeds, you grow the tree, your son protect it, his son would eat the fruit! That's crazy! I read someone said, "I shut my eyes in order to see". So as of now, you close your eyes and see India few years from now!

Watch these videos, it is about how clean our streets are. she is so innocent and funny but facts (or our fate!)

We can't always blame our insensitive politicians/bureaucrats for all. I have couple of my friends who are in politics. They always blame us! I think most of us are pointing fingers on each other!

If you haven't heard about this forum, take a look at it (participate if you could) when you have free time. It is the best place to know what's going on in India.

PS: Vel the two strangers in the train who annoyed you, they might be right about Kalpakam plant. They installed auto shut system when disaster strikes.

Tour Diary of my friend Vel!

ஊர் மதுரை. இருப்பது ஜப்பான். நல்ல நகைச்சுவை உணர்வு உண்டு!

Sharing my India vacation trip experience..

After a long time I visited Madurai , Sivakasi, Tuticorin and Tiruchendur to visit our temple. While going I enjoyed but my return journey was not so good due to my bad health. (as well as for my kids)

Madurai was so hot and I felt it was hotter than earlier days. Quite surprised to see the neatness around the Meenakshi temple. Also they completely blocked the cars entering around Meenakshi temple. Normal shopping area road has been changed to pedestrian area. Good Planning. Enjoyed Madurai Lala mittai kadai Halwa, in front of railway station after very long time.

I lived in Madurai but never been inside Mahal. After seeing Mahal in some Maniratnam movie, I have decided to visit Mahal sometime. So this time I visited and surprised to see the the old architecture they had and so huge pillars(scribbled by lot of lovers). Inside the Mahal our kids wanted to use the wash room and we were guided to toilet by one of the officer inside. Since we are paying for Mahal ticket we thought the toilet should be considerably clean. But we had a horrible experience inside(1000 times worst than Japan radiation) and later came to know that the toilet was not cleaned for the past 3 months and no water supply to this toilet. More than our experience I was thinking about the young American girl who was guided by her tourist guide to the same toilet few minutes earlier. I think all 2 G scandal members should be dumped here instead of Dhikar jail. Just few hours is enough.

I went to our family temple Karukuvel Ayanar near Thiruchendur, fully surrounded by red sand. After our prayer I witnessed a cold blooded murder. Yes. Some people from near by village came and they cut the throat of a goat in front of us. Few minutes before this incident my kids where touching the goat alive and my elder son could not digest this scene. My Kids asked one good question that why god was not able to save the life of this goat. No..Answer…

I returned by train from Tuticorin to Chennai by pearl city express with my family. I had severe cold, stuffy nose and I could not sleep. My body could not withstand full AC and fan with full speed. (I have to hold the side bars tightly in the upper birth to avoid flying due to strong air from both fan and corner side AC) On top of it, in the train one guy was talking to the other guy about the Japan nuclear issues(Tirunelveli-ke Halwa-wa) and he was mentioning that Japan does not have quality nuclear reactors, like the one they have in Kalpakkam. He was telling nowadays Japanese quality is poor. I thought even after 100 years our guys will never change. If that guy was standing near the door, I would have pushed him down to save our country. I would say that, freebies delivered in the street side of Japan will have a quality. But in India , there may be quality issue even in the highly paid/high quality item.

I got irritated with the train conversation, stuffy nose and gave company to the TTR sitting near the door way. I enjoyed watching the passing by village lights outside by standing near the door. Got down at each station to enjoy the mid night tea and also enjoyed the sales call to sell those tea. I do not know how he maintains the same pitch. (I think this kind of native slang, you can hear only in our railway station platforms) Offered a free tea to the TTR in the first station, there after he took special care on me at each station reminding the waiting time and the green signal for me.. Just for 5 rupees tea he gave his dedicated service throughout my return journey.

After visiting all the above cities, came back to Chennai. Enjoyed watching new movies at Satyam and Escape Cinemas with excellent sound effects. Mostly late shows adjusting my personal plan and office work timings. Try the non-veg restaurant adjacent to the Escape Cinemas ticket counter. Quite expensive but we felt very higenic and tasty. And also more colorful with youth crowd.

.....

Regards, Vel
